Fleet Management

Our service provides: a) Increased security of the trucks, their cargo, and their fuel. b) Monitoring driving behavior of drivers. c) Collecting data about mechanical operation of the truck.

To improve truck security, in addition to the common functions that most trackers provide, our service handles, CAN bus scanners, cameras, temperature sensors, fuel level sensors, keys for identification of the operator, and many other devices. It also manages trackers that operate for long periods without power, as those used in containers and trailers. In addition to report speeding and driving outside of the designated area (outside of geofence), our service reports harsh driving behaviors like sudden braking or acceleration, speeding on curves, or excessive idling.

The use of CAN bus is a mandatory standard for all American trucks manufactured after 1996 and European trucks after 2001. A CAN bus scanner enables access to the data generated by truck's internal computer or Engine Control Unit. The data provided by the CAN bus depends on the make and model of the truck. Our service manages the following information.

  • Odometer Total travel reported by the vehicle.
  • Fuel Level Input Percentage of fuel level.
  • Fuel Consumption Average fuel consumption in liters per 100km.
  • DTCs cleared distance Distance traveled since the last check was corrected.
  • Vehicle Speed Speed reported by the ECU.
  • Engine Load Percent engine load.
  • Engine Coolant Temperature Engine coolant temperature.
  • Throttle Position Acceleration rate.
  • Engine RPM Engine rotational speed in RPM.
  • Power Voltage Battery voltage.
  • Diagnostic Trouble Code Code issued by the ECU to indicate a problem.

Data collected from the CAN bus can be used to provide proper maintenance to the truck. In addition, odometer and fuel consumption data makes possible to establish the actual fuel consumption attributable to the engine and not to any other cause.

Our Fleet Management app offers numerous crucial features, including:

    • Currently our service works with Queclink and SunTech telemetry trackers (CAN bus).
    • Supports latest CAN bus standard J1939 and also J1708 for older trucks.
    • In addition to interacting with the platform’s website, users can download data in CSV format (Excel), generate reports with Fusion Tables (Google) and access data programmatically using PHP, .Net. Javascript, Python. By using these extensions VARs can provide solutions fully adapted to the needs of their customers.
    • Besides CAN bus scanners and common accessories, our platform manages the following devices:
      • iButton. Is a device that works like a key that identifies the truck operator and eventually enables the ignition only to authorized drivers.
      • Thermometer. Allows measuring and reporting periodically the temperature of refrigerated cargo.
      • Accelerometer. Usually this device is embedded in the tracker. Reports the harsh driving caused by sudden braking or acceleration, and by speeding at curves. It also reports excessive idling.
      • Fuel Level Gauge. To detect levels of fuel tanks, whether for truck consumption or as cargo.
      • Camera. Allows taking images of the inside or the outside of the truck with day or night vision.
    • The use of a suitable tracker with long battery life makes it possible to track trailers or containers without power for long time periods.

We provide VARs who sell our Fleet Management Service with the following benefits:

    • Besides the location and path of the truck, the service enables taking images of the cargo, or alert when the load compartment door is opened. It can detect changes in the fuel tank level, either through fuel level gauges or CAN bus data.
    • In addition to reporting the location and the traveled route, the services reports speeding, driving outside of a geofence, harsh driving, and excessive idling.
    • The service records the values reported by the CAN bus, which helps establish more effective maintenance programs.
    • Using Google Sheets, Excel or Fusion Tables allows the creation of reports tailored to the specific requirements of each client. Reports can be presented in tabular, graphical or in a Google map. Reports can also be made for individual or groups of trackers. Fusion Tables facilitates the preparation of ad hoc reports. Additionally, we offer programming service to create specific custom reports or to update customer database periodically or in real time.
    • VARS are able to offer our services using their own brand or identity.
